Over the years it has been heart-breaking to see how skills development has become so much of a “Check-box” exercise that offers close to zero career development value to the candidates. This is wrong!! It continues to build a buffer of unemployable youth who depend on allowances to survive.
Every Training provider has nothing to offer the industry besides training and hosting (and then discarding) the candidates leaving them with the same employability prospects as they had when they entered the program. SO WHICH SKILLS WERE BEING DEVELOPED? Where are the IMPACT and EMPOWERMENT?
So after identifying that the ICT industry needs both 4IR skills (these are the only skills that add employability value) as well as learnership for BBBEE compliance, we said to ourselves “Let’s bring these 2 worlds together” so that there is real value for all parties.
